timbr: a voice data visualization tool to help singers improve their craft
A browser tool that measures a singer's voice and explains it. Every reading is tagged as measured, inferred, or self-reported, and the tool refuses to analyze a bad recording.

What it is
timbr measures your singing voice in the browser (pitch, range, register, stability, timbre) and turns it into a picture you can understand. Audio never leaves your machine. It’s in a small private preview.
The design choice
Instead of an open chat box, AI is applied to one narrow job. Every reading is labeled as measured, inferred, or self-reported, so you know how much weight it can bear. Uncertain readings are shown as uncertain, and a bad recording gets refused instead of analyzed with false confidence.
What testing caught
I build on a laptop; most users sing into their phones. On a phone, the live tuner bounced the whole screen every time the readout changed. That only showed up by watching people use it.
